Have you heard anything about the "Golden Compass" movie, starring Nicole Kidman? To tell you the truth I haven't heard much about this movie, but it sounds horrible. This has been circulating as one of those mass emails forwards, but you can check out the whole story online at: http://snopes.com/politics/religion/compass.asp
"You may already know about the kids movie coming out in December starring Nicole Kidman. It's called The Golden Compass, and while itwill be a watered down version, it is based on a series of children's books about killing God (It is the anti-Narnia). From what I understand, the hope is to get a lot of kids to see the movie - which won't seem too bad - and then get the parents to buy the books for their kids for Christmas. The quotes from the author sum it all up. (He actually says 'kill God.')
The following quote is from 'plugged in online' (Focus on the Family). I'm certain they will have more to say as it gets closer, but we need to start spreading the word NOW!
QUOTE: 'Clergymen who kidnap children. Witches who aren't wicked. Even a pair of sexually ambiguous angels. If you thought Harry Potter was blasphemous, wait till you get a look at
the His Dark Materials trilogy.'
Entertainment Weekly's preview commentary on New Line Cinema's $150 million adaptation of The Golden Compass, the first story in Philip Pullman's series of 'theologically trippy novels,' which is due in theaters Dec. 7 [Entertainment Weekly, 8/24/07]."
The books are supposed to be similar to the "Harry Potter" series. I know some people find the "Harry Potter" books innocent enough, but they aren't allowed in our house. We've lately started weeding out a lot of cartoons and things with bad attitudes or undertones. One day, I think we may even be a TV-free home!
For some awesome alternatives to the TV options that are out there, check out:

We've even added this Christian-only Satellite TV package to our wish list. (Long time from now!) Here's another Christian-only Satellite service to check out.
Remember, friends, the Word tells us:
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

Thank you for visiting my blog! I *almost* have the picture thing worked out... what kind of photo-editing software do you have?
Thanks for the site recommendations! It is so hard to find decent entertainment these days that doesn't compramise Biblical principals! I've added these all to my favorites. Thanks for doing some "leg work" for all of us! You rock!
