Well, we did it. We jumped ship and took the TV....OUT OF OUR LIVING ROOM. We didn't throw it out altogether, but it's gone from the main hang-out in our house. A few different factors came into play for us to make this decision. First of all, XMan was getting up at 6:30 -and once even 5:30- and turning on cartoons, often waking up his brother and sister in the process. Secondly, school and chores were falling behind because of tv and video games. Thirdly, the kids' attitudes about school and chores were not acceptable to Hubby & I. XMan and Little Man have actually both been grounded from all media for 3 weeks until we see improvement. This even includes both the computer here and at the library. Ouch.
Our smaller tv and a dvd player went into the work-out/craft room so that Hubby can watch his P90X dvds on it. The other tv went into our bedroom, along with the gaming systems and other dvd player. We're only on Day 2, but so far, it's going ok. The weather has fully cooperated with our timing, so they've been outside the majority of the past week! Speaking of, I think I'm going to go grab a magazine and join them!

We have ours in a small bedroom (the computer room) upstairs. I love it that way!
Good for you!! You can do it. :-) We are so glad we got rid of the TV. Sold it on Craig's list. Now we watch DVD's once in a while on the computer. And we only own educational computer games....that way, when they're done with school and want to have a treat, they're excited to play "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego", "Typing Instructor", or "Jumpstart Spanish".
